ALL EYES ON TEXAS
Texas as a battleground state? What was once unthinkable is now increasingly likely, with Democratic U.S. House candidates having more cash-on-hand [[link removed]] than Republicans -- and that includes our very own Gina Ortiz Jones , running for TX-23.
And we finally know [[link removed]] who Gina's general election opponent will be: Tony Gonzales, who proudly accepted the primary endorsement of President Trump.
We aren't the only ones to believe Gina is on the path toward victory. Forecasters are naming the TX-23 as one of 10 Congressional seats likely to flip [[link removed]] in November.
But there is much more than just the U.S. House race to watch in Texas. We have 19 LGBTQ endorsed candidates [[link removed]] on the ballot in the state!
AUGUST ELECTIONS
August is a big month for LGBTQ candidates. We have 65 candidates on primary ballots, including in key states like Florida, Kansas, Missouri and Wisconsin.
Oh, and Hawaii too! Adrian Tam , who is running to be the only openly LGBTQ person serving in the Hawaii state legislature, is on the ballot in August. He sat down [[link removed]] with our Senior Political Director Sean Meloy to talk about his race.
In Michigan, Congressional candidate Jon Hoadley urged voters [[link removed]] to get their ballots in -- that primary comes Tuesday. He would become the first openly LGBTQ U.S. representative from Michigan if elected.
Five Republican candidates are battling it out [[link removed]] for a chance at defeating our openly LGBTQ U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids -- who has championed equality during her first term.
And in one of his last appeals [[link removed]] to voters, Dave Coulter , running for Oakland County (MI) Executive, he said he is "a leader who listens," which is exactly what our country needs right now.
CELEBRATING
More than a month after their big primary wins, Mondaire Jones and Ritchie Torres continue to make headlines [[link removed]] because of their historic victories. These two LGBTQ Black future members of Congress are ready to "shake up Congress' status quo" come November.
And we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Disability Pride Month with a powerful Facebook Live Panel: Queer, Disabled and Electable. It is a must watch [[link removed]] and includes our candidate for Jess Benham , who is on-track to becoming the first openly LGBTQ woman elected to the Pennsylvania state legislature and one of the only out autistic state legislators in the United States.

LGBTQ Victory Fund has helped thousands of openly LGBTQ candidates win elections up and down the ballot, from sea to shining sea since our founding in 1991. We believe representation is power so we elected U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin and Kyrsten Sinema, Governors Jared Polis and Kate Brown, all seven LGBTQ members of U.S. Congress and countless candidates for state and local government, including Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, Colorado state Representative Leslie Herod and Pennsylvania Assemblymember Brian Sims. And with an unprecedented number of LGBTQ people running for office in this year, we’ll need your support to make 2020 the next Rainbow Wave.
