MS NOW: 'They underestimate the American people': Gov. Beshear on possible election interference
See what Andy had to say about Trump's push to nationalize elections, then chip in anything you can to help him fight back. >> [link removed]
John,
Donald Trump has threatened to "nationalize" elections in key blue areas, and it's important to understand what that really means.
He's talking about putting the federal government in charge of state and local elections in certain places. He would get to determine where and when elections happen and how they're run.
That would mean asserting his control over vote-by-mail or creating new restrictions around how people cast their ballots. This is not how our democracy was designed to function. The Constitution gives states the authority to administer elections. End of story.
Our founders built a system meant to prevent exactly this kind of overreach. But for Trump, this isn't about making elections better; it's about consolidating authority in his own administration's hands. It's no surprise that every area he's talked about nationalizing is a large Democratic stronghold.
Here's what Andy believes deeply: The Trump administration underestimates how much we value our freedom to vote and how seriously we take the responsibility of self-government. They underestimate the resolve of communities who understand that democracy only works when the rules are fair and the law is respected.
We need a real check on this president, and we need real leaders who will uphold the Constitution, no matter what. More than ever before, we NEED leaders who understand that the rule of law is not optional and that the power of this country belongs to its citizens. Chip in today to help Andy continue his work to elect those leaders and defend our free and fair elections. >> [link removed]
