Our research is in the Guardian this week. We calculate that average debt repayments for lower-income countries are at their highest since 1990 ([link removed]) . And to make matter worse, the debt vultures are back.

We’ve just launched a new video to explain how debt vultures are cashing in and getting rich off the back of the worst debt crisis in 35 years. Right now, they’re threatening to sue Ethiopia, a country pushed into crisis by climate disasters and debt, and they’ll do it through UK courts!

Already a whopping 2000 of us have signed the petition to stop the debt vultures ([link removed]) from swooping in on countries in crisis. While millions of people globally are trapped in poverty because of the debt crisis, debt vultures are draining national budgets, taking away resources from schools, hospitals, and essential public services.

And the UK government can do something about it. 90% of debt contracts for lower-income countries are governed by English law – this means Ethiopia could be sued by debt vultures through the UK’s High Court. This is outrageous and it's up to us to make a stand.
