John,
Montana has long set the example for clean and fair elections. We have consistently fought against the influence of money in our elections. It's part of our values, and it’s a fight I didn't hesitate to take on.
So when the IRS and Federal Government were trying to make it easier for seven-figure checks to be written anonymously in an effort to buy our elections, we knew we had to do something. Governor Bullock asked me to take them to court and stop it.
One year ago today, we won. We beat the federal government and the IRS in federal court to say no to anonymous $1,000,000 checks trying to buy influence. It was a nationwide victory in the fight against dark money.
In Montana we have some of the very lowest contribution limits in the country and it is because we don't believe corporations and million-dollar checks should decide who are elected officials should be. The people should decide.
From day one I have never taken corporate PAC money and have relied solely on grassroots donations from the people. Will you join us in helping elect an Attorney General that will always fight to keep dark money from buying our elections by contributing to our campaign? ([link removed])
