Hey John,
A few weeks ago, I drove out to Ecola State Park. As I made my way over the Coast Range and toward the ocean, I couldn't help but notice the miles of clear-cuts along either side of the highway. It was a relief to get to the old-growth forests at Ecola--to hike beneath towering spruce trees, and enormous cedars, and Douglas firs blanketed in moss. So many iconic Oregon species rely on these remaining old-growth habitats, especially the marbled murrelet. Without old-growth trees to nest in, marbled murrelets wouldn't be able to lay their eggs. Please, can you send an email to ODFW, asking them to uplist the marbled murrelet from threatened to endangered species status? If we don't protect their old-growth nesting habitat, marbled murrelets will soon become extinct in Oregon. Ask ODFW to give marbled murrelets and their old-growth forest habitat the protection they need.
Thank you for taking action,
