In 2022, I released an ad called “Oath” which quickly went viral.
In it, I asked viewers a simple question: Do you put our democracy before politics?

As it turned out, I answered yes to that question myself. My service on the January 6th Committee was the final nail in the coffin for my re-election campaign.
Losing your House seat isn’t a fun experience if you can avoid it, John, but you can’t be good at this job unless you’re willing to lose it.
Each morning when I look in the mirror, I’m proud of the person looking back at me. There are dozens, maybe even hundreds of members on Capitol Hill who can’t say the same.
That’s part of why I’m running for Congress again. When I get the job back, I’ll do it honorably. And as always, I’ll put our democracy before politics.
This mentality has made me a target before. I know being a member of Congress in this chaotic political environment isn’t going to be a picnic. But John, I didn’t spend the better part of two decades on combatant ships because it was comfortable.
This moment calls for courage, and I’m answering the call. Will you back me up with a contribution of $5 or $15 to help me flip toss-up VA-02 district and bring courage back to Capitol Hill?
Forward,
Elaine Luria
