Six months before women were granted the right to vote, suffragist Carrie Chapman Catt founded the League of Women Voters on February 14, 1920, paving the way for our democracy as we know it today.
But even before that, suffragettes would send postcards on holidays like Valentine’s Day to raise awareness (and let’s be real — fundraise) for their movement to secure women’s right to vote.

We’ve come a long way over the last 106 years. But as our right to vote continues to face attacks from those in charge who fear the power of our collective voices. But, our fight to protect the sanctity of our vote is just as strong — and just as urgent.
