In the Rio Grande Valley, additional resources are now in place to help combat COVID-19, including the conversion of the McAllen Convention Center into a temporary healthcare facility to help meet the community's hospital capacity needs.

This temporary facility in McAllen will lessen the strain on the region's hospitals until we can contain the virus and bring hospitalizations back down.

SLOWING THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 IN GALVESTON COUNTY

[link removed]

Daily case numbers in Galveston County are dropping steadily.

The residents of Galveston are slowing the spread of COVID-19 by wearing masks, reducing the size of gatherings, staying home when possible and good distancing practices.

This virus can't spread if you don't give it a chance to transmit.

Let's continue to practice the minimum standard health protocols to keep Texas open for business.

DIP IN COVID-19 CASES SUGGEST MASK REQUIREMENT IS PAYING OFF

[link removed])&utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral

The dip in COVID-19 cases suggests that the statewide mask requirement is paying off.

But the decrease in daily COVID-19 cases shouldn't be cause to relax wearing a mask and other precautions says Lamar University public health expert.

Instead it just shows that these precautions are working and will continue to decrease case numbers if Texans continue to work together to slow the spread of this virus.

EXTENDING AUTOMATIC SNAP RENEWALS IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19

[link removed]

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission extended SNAP renewals and waived interview requirements by 6 months to ensure Texans can continue to provide nutritious food for their families.
