John,

This morning, President Donald Trump expanded his war on vote-by-mail by spreading lies about its safety and threatening to delay November’s election. Something he cannot do:

Let’s be clear: Federal elections take place on the first Tuesday in November and have since 1845. Election Day will be November 3rd. Only an act of Congress can change that. And, as our Democratic representatives in Congress have clearly indicated, there is no way that is going to happen.

But it’s clear Trump and Republicans will stop at nothing to deny our ability to conduct a free and fair election this fall. Including by attacking vote-by-mail and dismantling the U.S. Postal Service.

John,

Donald Trump is working to dismantle the United States Postal Service as we know it.

He installed one of his top campaign fundraisers as Postmaster General just to sabotage and privatize the Postal Service.

Now, the new Postmaster General is already planning to reduce delivery hours and overtime for postal workers. This will slow down mail and cut pay for thousands of essential postal workers in the middle of this crisis.

Millions of Americans are relying on the USPS to deliver critical supplies like food and medicine, and exercise their constitutional right to vote via mail-in ballots this fall.

If Trump gets his way, he could sabotage a critical American institution and November’s election along with it. Congress must act quickly to stop him.

Trump only wants to dismantle the USPS to boost private profits and impair our ability to conduct a free and fair election this November.

He and his cronies are already waging a disinformation campaign in a gross attempt to discredit vote-by-mail and suppress the vote.

If Congress does not act to save the USPS, Trump could get in the way of millions of Americans exercising their constitutional right to vote this year.

That’s why we need to pressure Congress to act immediately. Add your name to call on Congress to force emergency funding for the USPS into the next, must-pass pandemic relief legislation >>

Thank you for raising your voice today to protect the USPS and our ability to safely cast our ballots this November.
