Hi there – and welcome to the new edition of the Berge Bulletin, your one-stop shop for what’s going on in the campaign and how you can get involved.

I joined the Pierce County Democrats last weekend. They invited me to their open house so I had to come back to meet more people. 🙂 As with all over, people are worried and angry but they are putting those emotions into action. They are gathering to not only build community in these trying times, they are also canvassing and talking to neighbors about the upcoming elections.

We had an incredible event with Eau Claire City Council Member Larry Mboga which turned into sort of a townhall! We had a community conversation about what we need locally and it was a great opportunity to hear from our neighbors.

We had a packed house at Brick Sip Haus in Tomah, which turned into another town hall with engaging questions and comments from the crowd. We discussed healthcare, farming, big money in politics, and how Representatives need to stay connected to the people of the district - not stay in their DC bubble.

After Tomah, we headed to an Indivisible meeting in La Crosse. It's so energizing to see the community work being done by local Indivisible groups. This is neighbors caring for neighbors which is always important but now it's vital with the federal government causing fear and harm in our local communities.

We had a fantastic event at Pearl Street Books in La Crosse! Hosts included Rep. Tara Johnson, La Crosse Mayor Shaundel Washington-Spivey, La Crosse County Board Chair Tina Tryggestad, Bob and Maureen Freedland, Margaret Wood, and Pearl Street Books owner Beth Hartung. Over 80 people showed up and they came from not only La Crosse County but also Monroe County and Vernon County.

I joined my community members and local agencies for the Point in Time count overnight. The PIT is mandated 2x/year by the Federal Government to take a census of those living unsheltered. Housing insecurity is a vast problem for communities across the country. We need real solutions to ensure everyone has safe housing. I am committed to finding these solutions by working with the organizations on the ground, people with lived experience, and local, state and federal officials.
