When something breaks on a Navy ship in the middle of the Indian Ocean, you can’t just toss it out and order a new one on Amazon. You have to fix it by any means necessary.
I spent two decades on combatant ships as a nuclear engineer, so I know my way around a toolbox.

Old habits die hard, John. When something breaks — a piece of furniture, a neighbor’s car, a coffee machine — I’m always prepared to fix it.
What about things that can’t be fixed with a little elbow grease and duct tape…a broken country, for instance?
A lot needs fixing in America today. Freedom of the press, freedom of speech, rule of law, free and fair elections are all cracking under the heavy boot of this administration. I want my daughter’s generation to inherit the strong, dynamic nation our ancestors fought and died for, not a busted-up, broken-down shell of a democracy.
That’s all the reason I need to grab a power drill and get to work.
It’s time to reopen and rebuild our Republic, but first I’m asking you to roll up your sleeves and join me. And if you can, contribute $25 to my campaign for battleground VA-02 to make sure I have the right tools to get our nation back in good working order.
We’ll fix it together,
Elaine Luria
