McConnell suggests Dems are trying to 'sabotage' the next coronavirus bill
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Wednesday said that Democrats were trying to "sabotage" the coronavirus bill currently being worked on by lawmakers for political reasons the same way, McConnell said, that they stymied Senate Republicans' police reform efforts last month. "This is a more-than-fair, more-than-bipartisan framework for Democrats to engage with," McConnell said. "The only reason I can see that Speaker Pelosi and the Democratic leader would sabotage negotiations is if, as some concluded when they killed police reform in June, they actually think bipartisan progress for the country would hurt their own political chances."

Top Dem Senate Challengers Silent on D.C. Statehood
While Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) has repeatedly railed against D.C. statehood, his opponent, Amy McGrath, has ignored questions on the issue throughout her campaign. "There's nothing Amy McGrath and other extreme Democrats would love more than to silence Kentucky voices and to work against our values in Congress," Katharine Cooksey, McConnell's campaign spokeswoman, told the Free Beacon. "Adding two new Democratic senators would be a disaster for Kentucky and our nation, propelling us closer to socialism."

Local business experiences hiring struggles as unemployment rate soars
Millions of Americans are continuing to draw unemployment as the nation battles the COVID-19 pandemic. One local small business owner says his business is having a harder time hiring new employees now than when unemployment numbers were at a record low. Kirk Studzinski, owner of Stanley Steemer in Paducah, says it has been virtually impossible to bring in new employees. This as the nationwide unemployment rate sits at 11%. "They're making more money now than they were when they were working," Studzinksi said. "So why would they want to come to work, you know, for $12, starting, an-hour job when they're getting $20 an hour to stay home?"
