The outpouring of love and support since my announcement last week has been truly humbling -- Over the last 6 1/2 years I have worked so hard to make Washington state a better place to live and raise kids -- including making Washington a global leader in the fight to defeat climate change.

But there's no more looking backward -- only forward. And I'm excited to hit the ground running in my re-election as Washington's governor. Today it is more critical than ever that we lead from the states as the other Washington continues to be mired in chaos coming from the White House.

Today we are setting an aggressive launch goal to make sure get this campaign gets off the ground quickly: We're looking for 5,000 grassroots donors to step up before Th‌ursday at midn‌ight so we can enter the fall in the best possible position to win. The truth is, Republicans are scared of our progress and what we have accomplished in Washington state. They want you to believe we must choose between strong economic growth and policies that lift up the middle class. But in Washington state, we have proven you can do both. They want to tear down the progress we have made on climate action, healthcare, paid family leave, and so much more. We can't afford to lose an inch of the incredible accomplishments we've made -- which is why I need your help again today.

This is going to be a tough campaign. Last week the Washington state GOP chair didn't mince words: He said I was a "failed governor," with a "condescending, demeaning attitude." You can tell from that alone that the gloves are already off.
