Hi there,
Are you going to be online tonight, John?
If you will be, I hope you can drop by our house party to hear from
Judge Lina Hidalgo (Texas), state
Senator Emily Randall (Washington), and
Minneapolis School Board Director Josh Pauly (Minnesota) on the importance of local politics in the absence of federal leadership.
It's tonight at 5:00 p.m. PT. You can RVSP here >>
2020 has been… not so great.
Americans have spent over 100 days trying to combat a pandemic without money, supplies, or clear information, and there's no end in sight. Two months ago, the entire nation erupted in the wake of George Floyd's murder, but we're still too far from the change we're demanding. In these issues and more, Donald Trump has equated to little more than an aftershock after an earthquake causing more damage to already challenging circumstances.
But these incredible Run for Something alumni that will join me have stepped up where Trump would not -- and they've made us all very proud.
Judge Lina Hidalgo has been protecting her community in Texas, refusing to let poor leadership above her stop her from following the science. State Senator Emily Randall successfully passed a bill to provide assistance to college students experiencing homelessness in her first term. Josh Pauly used his authority as School Board Director to end the Minneapolis Public Schools contract with the police department.
We'll be discussing these victories and more tonight at the virtual house party. If you'd like to hear from our speakers, RSVP here to join the conversation.
Thanks,
Amanda Litman
