Organizations and grassroots efforts across Wisconsin are joining together during the first week of August to call upon utilities to close dirty, expensive, oppressive, coal-fueled power plants. Six coal plants in the state have yet to be announced for retirement. We don't have to wait for the utility companies to think it's a good idea - we can make sure they hear loud and clear that we demand an end to burning toxic coal - for our health, the economy, our planet, and justice.

In Southeast Wisconsin, we live among a pair of coal-fueled power plants operated by We Energies at their Oak Creek facilities. We also breathe some of the worst air in the state. Let's make sure we turn out during the week of action so our voices are heard.

Monday 6:30 - 8:00pm - Learn: Join us for an online screening of the documentary We Neighbors, the story of Wisconsinites living next to the Oak Creek/Elm Road coal plants. After the documentary, pulmonologist Dr. Linus Santo Tomas will give a presentation about the health impacts of burning coal, followed by a panel discussion.

Tuesday - Share: Watch personal stories on Facebook Live, and share a story of your own.

Wednesday - Speak up: Testify or submit written comments that will lay the groundwork for our clean energy future.

Thursday - Call: Call your utility and tell them it's time for a coal-free future.

Friday - Create: Spread the word about the need for clean energy with art, chalked messages, posters, yard signs, and more!

RSVP ([link removed]) now to receive updates and details so you can take collective action each day.

The Governor's Task Force on Climate Change

If you haven't already, you still have 1 1/2 days to submit comments to the Governor's Task Force on Climate Change through tomorrow July 31

Though the virtual public hearings are complete, you can still go to the state website to submit your written comments ([link removed]) through July 31. Below are some questions that the task force members asked during the hearings to get you started if you're not sure what to write.
* How is climate change impacting you and your community?
* What ideas do you have for strategies to address climate change and the resulting impacts in your community and Wisconsin?

Take a half hour to let your state government know how you feel!
Thanks
