Executive Updates: Courts Blocks 5-State Funding Freeze and ICE’s Use of Taxpayer Addresses
Courts continue to block Trump policies to unlawfully freeze funds and share data. The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York issued a preliminary injunction blocking the Administration for Children and Families from freezing $10 billion in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) and Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) funds for California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and New York. The U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts issued a preliminary injunction blocking ICE’s use of taxpayer addresses provided by the IRS on February 6. Advocacy: 430+ Organizations Call on Congress to Pass Meaningful Protections for Families, including Sensitive Locations
As Congress negotiates any funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), it must establish meaningful oversight to ensure community safety and accountability for the harmful and abusive immigration enforcement actions taking place across the country. One meaningful way to protect communities is to codify guidance on immigration enforcement near so-called “sensitive locations.” The letter [[link removed]] , organized by CLASP with support from PIF, has over 430 organizational signatories and has been shared with Congressional leadership.

The Alliance for Immigrant Survivors (AIS) has released a two-pager [[link removed]] on priority asks related to the upcoming vote on the DHS funding bill.
