The earliest roots of American democracy took hold right here in Virginia. Our General Assembly, founded in 1619, is the oldest continuous legislature in the Western Hemisphere.

Over hundreds of years, we’ve cultivated a truly democratic society in which laws are respected, freedoms are protected, and ideas are shared freely.

I’ll be damned if I let a power-hungry authoritarian tear it all down.

Virginians will not be collateral damage of this administration or its enablers. Not on my watch.

Congress is supposed to be a coequal branch of government, not a mouthpiece for the president.

We need courageous leaders in Congress now more than at any time in the last century. We need aggressive Congressional oversight of this administration.

We can’t allow this toothless, spineless version of Congress another two years to tear down our democracy.
