Public Notice: Power Resources Inc. d/b/a Cameco Resources, Mine Unit One Final Restoration, PT0633, WYSUA-1548, TFN 7 1/245

 Public Notice 

Power Resources Inc. d/b/a Cameco Resources (Cameco) of Douglas, Wyoming has  applied for approval of the groundwater restoration of Mine Unit 1(one) per Source Material  License WYSUA-1548 Amendment No. 3 from the Land Quality Division of the Department  of Environmental Quality of the State of Wyoming. Mine Unit 1 (one) Wellfield is an in-situ  recovery uranium mining wellfield located in the Smith Ranch-Highland Uranium Mine:  (Sections 16 and 21, Township 36N, Range 72W to Sections 13 and 24, Township 35N Range  75 W, USGS 7.5' Topographic Quadrangle Map, Converse County, Wyoming). The Smith  Ranch-Highland Mine is located in the Southern Powder River Basin approximately 25 miles  northwest of the town of Douglas, Wyoming. The mining operation in Mine Unit 1 (one) began  June 1997 and is estimated to continue until 2029. The land, after mining, will be returned to their pre-ISR land use of livestock grazing and wildlife habitat.  

The Department of Environmental Quality has issued a Pre-Decisional State Decision  Document to approve the Mine Unit 1 Final Groundwater Restoration and Closure Report.  Information regarding this initial draft decision and the application may be reviewed in the  office of the Land Quality Division of the Department of Environmental Quality in Cheyenne  or the Converse County Clerk's Office Douglas, Wyoming. The application is available for  public viewing along with the initial draft decision. Written comments or objections to the  proposed application must be received by the Administrator of the Land Quality Division of  the Department of Environmental Quality, 200 West 17th Street, Suite 10, Cheyenne, WY  82002, before the close of business (5:00 PM MST), April 6, 2026 (30 days after last  publication). Objections may also be submitted by the same deadline via the Land Quality  Division’s electronic comment portal at https://lq.wyomingdeq.commentinput.com/. Only  the Mine Unit 1 (one) Final Groundwater Restoration and Closure Application for Restoration  Approval is open for public review. If an objection specifically requests a public hearing with  the Department and is found to be an aggrieved party as defined in W.S.§35-11-103(a)(vii), a  public hearing shall be held after the final date for filing objections.
