Hi,

Two weeks ago, the Senate passed a continuing resolution to temporarily
fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) while Congress renegotiates
funding and “reforms” for DHS and its agencies.

That continuing resolution expires this week. Nurses know: “Reforms” are
not enough. We must abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) now.

message to Congress?

National Nurses United remains clear and unwavering in our demands: no
funding for ICE, take away the $140 billion slush fund given to ICE and
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in H.R.1, and abolish ICE.

We are past the point of reforms. Since its inception over 20 years ago,
ICE has proven that its mission has never been about keeping our
communities safe. Congress has the power to put an end to ICE’s campaign
of violence by once and for all ending its funding.

[ [link removed] ]The Senate will likely vote on DHS funding again this week, so your
voice is urgently needed. Will you call 202-998-6094 right now?

Here is a short script you can use when you call:

Hi, my name is _______. I am a constituent and I’m a nurse/other health
care worker/patient. It is unconscionable, after a year of constant
violence and militarization of our neighborhoods by the Trump
administration, that Congress would consider sending $10 billion in
funding to ICE to continue this harm. I’m calling today to urge my member
of Congress to oppose ANY Homeland Security funding package for 2026 that
includes funding for ICE, take away the $75 billion allocated to ICE and
$65 billion for CBP in last year’s Republican budget reconciliation bill,
and take immediate action to abolish ICE. We are past the point of
reforms. Abolish ICE now.

Congress must not give a penny to ICE. Together, we will ensure our
taxpayer dollars are not used to murder and terrorize our communities.

Thank you for taking action,

National Nurses United
