 Dear team, Last week, I went to Harrisburg to hear the Governor’s pitch on the state budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Governor Shapiro proposed common sense ideas to increase state revenue, invest in our communities, and provide solutions to the structural budget deficit that nearly 30 years of Republican leadership in the General Assembly has left us with. Some of the things he highligted include:
But I have to be honest, I am skeptical these proposals will gain any traction in the Republican held Senate. And if their leadership is more of the same inaction we saw last year, that will leave Pennsylvanians suffering once again. After 5 years serving as a Pennsylvania Senator, I truly believe that Democratic control of the Senate is the only way forward for many of the policies that you and I care about. In every ask I make of you this year, it will be in service of one goal: taking the majority. We need three seats to get to a true Democratic majority in the Senate. Each dollar I raise will go toward supporting our targeted candidates, our statewide Democratic infrastructure, and the team that supports me in this work, because I can't do this alone. There is so much going on in our country that needs our attention as leaders, and every day the Republicans hold a majority in Harrisburg, they obstruct progress on our valued issues and enable Trump’s extreme, violent agenda.
