Today mayors and other local elected officials from across New York will gather in Albany for the Local Governments Joint Budget Hearing, also known as Tin Cup Day. This year, their testimony comes amid escalating federal attacks that threaten families’ basic stability. Health care coverage is at risk for nearly one million New Yorkers. Hunger is rising as SNAP is slashed. Child care remains unaffordable or unavailable to many.

At the same time, the ultra-wealthy in New York are receiving $12B in new federal tax breaks. State lawmakers can instead raise revenue from this extreme wealth and invest it in public education and move New York toward truly universal child care. Send an email calling on your state legislators to tax the rich. The majority of New Yorkers agree.
