A battle for the future of the Democratic Party is currently being waged in one of the bluest congressional districts in the entire nation: Illinois 9th.

After the retirement of Democrat Jan Schakowsky, this congressional seat is open for the first time in nearly three decades.

And with only a little over a month until election day, MAGA billionaires are scrambling to claim it from Democrats, not with a Republican, but by funding and supporting the campaigns of their chosen “Democrat” candidates via AIPAC.

Just a few days ago, AIPAC attempted a coup in NJ-11’s district. But it blew up in their faces when progressive Analila Mejia pulled off a stunning upset. AIPAC got involved in the race on behalf of their chosen candidate to attack a Democrat who they wrongly believed to be the favorite, allowing Analia to surge right past them both.

But in IL-9, MAGA has already learned from their mistakes. Groups connected to AIPAC are supporting two Democrats that are considered frontrunners. AIPAC Super PAC “Elect Chicago Women” is spending hundreds of thousands supporting Laura Fine and AIPAC affiliated 314 Action has spent hundreds of thousands supporting Daniel Biss.

As these two candidates attack each other’s campaigns, MAGA is banking on a head-to-head between them, with Democrats none the wiser and MAGA coming out on top no matter who wins.

But Democrats have a chance to shock AIPAC again by supporting progressive Bushra Amiwala.

Bushra Amiwala is the only progressive Democrat with a chance to win this election and prevent MAGA from seizing this seat.

She’s running on a bold progressive platform of resistance and kitchen table issues, has a rare combination of experience and youth as a 28 year-old elected official, was born and raised in the district, and is well-known and trusted because she always shows up for her community when she gives her word.

Bushra is undoubtedly the best shot for Democrats to defeat AIPAC.

We know what will happen if AIPAC wins: More feckless leadership in Congress in the face of Trump’s encroaching fascism. Strongly worded letters in lieu of real action. Democrats failing to deliver on their promises.
