Public comment period open, public meetings announced for hunting season setting

February 10, 2026

CHEYENNE —  The Wyoming Game and Fish Department opened public comment for 2026 season-setting regulations on Feb. 6. Public meetings to discuss the hunting season proposals  are also scheduled throughout the state.

Game and Fish is proposing changes to the following regulations:

* *Chapter 2:* General Hunting Regulations.
* *Chapter 5:* Antelope Hunting Seasons.
* *Chapter 6:* Deer Hunting Seasons.
* *Chapter 7:* Elk Hunting Seasons.
* *Chapter 8:* Moose Hunting Seasons.
* *Chapter 9:* Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Goat Hunting Seasons.
* *Chapter 11:* Upland Game Bird and Small Game Hunting Seasons.
* *Chapter 14:* Migratory Game Bird Hunting Seasons and Light Goose Conservation Order.
* *Chapter 15:* Wild Bison Recreational Hunting Seasons.
* *Chapter 20:* Wild Turkey Hunting Seasons.

Game and Fish will host public meetings throughout the state to present and discuss these season proposals, and gather input from the public. Attending a public meeting is one way to learn about local wildlife populations, ask questions and to visit with Game and Fish biologists and wardens.

Initial regulations were initially posted to the Game and Fish website [ [link removed] ] in January to open the public comment period. Field personnel are currently analyzing data to formulate 2026 season recommendations. Revised draft regulations with updated season proposals will be available on the department website by March 18.

Anyone unable to attend a local meeting can view the season proposals when they are posted, provide online comment or download the written comment form at wgfd.wyo.gov/get-involved.

Comments can be submitted online through the Game and Fish website  [ [link removed] ]through 5 p.m. April 1.

Game and Fish will inform the public as quickly as possible if there are any changes to this schedule.
