Friend –

Republicans are refusing to accept a basic rule that applies to law
enforcement across the United States. That federal agents must obtain a
judicial warrant before entering private property.

In negotiations over DHS funding, the White House and congressional
Republicans have drawn a firm line against judicial warrants. They are
openly insisting that DHS and ICE retain the authority to enter homes and
detain people without a judge’s approval. This is not a technical dispute.
It is a deliberate decision to reject judicial oversight.

[ [link removed] ]If you believe federal agents should not be able to enter homes without
a judge signing off, add your name now. >>

Republicans are also blocking other safeguards that most law enforcement
agencies already follow. They are resisting requirements that DHS officers
display identification. They are opposing limits on enforcement near
schools, hospitals, churches, polling places, and courthouses. They are
refusing to codify protections against racial profiling or clear standards
governing the use of force.

These are baseline protections. They exist to prevent abuse, protect
United States citizens, and ensure enforcement is targeted rather than
indiscriminate. Republicans are rejecting them anyway.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries has called the Republican proposal
woefully inadequate. He is right. The offer on the table fails to require
judicial warrants, leaves accountability measures toothless, and does
nothing to ensure consequences when officers abuse their authority.

[ [link removed] ]Tell Congress this is unacceptable. Add your name to the petition and
demand enforceable accountability standards for DHS and ICE. >>

This debate is happening right now, behind closed doors, while Republicans
attempt to prevent these protections from being included in the final
funding bill. If that were to happen, it will be far harder to undo the
harm or prevent future tragedies.

This is the moment to apply pressure. No blank checks. No secret
enforcement. No federal policing without judicial oversight.

Thanks for taking action.
