July is a very special time of year for my family.

It's when we gather (or, this year, virtually gather) to share stories of my mother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who would've turned 99 this month. I love reminiscing with my siblings about how she instilled faith and hard work in us. I love telling my kids about her passion for equality and restless dissatisfaction with the status quo. And I love that today, her fight against injustice in this world still matters to people like you and me.

In these days of change and hardship, I hear my mother's voice. I remember her advocating for equality and acceptance of people with ID. I see her combating any injustice -- no matter how small -- and leading a worldwide movement for inclusion. I remember her turning anger into action and frustration into a commitment to promoting dignity and respect.

It is my goal, and the goal of everyone at Special Olympics, to never be satisfied until everyone is treated with the dignity they deserve.
