Team –

I wanted to reach out to you directly about something serious, and to explain why I recorded a video addressing it.

In December, the U.S. Department of Justice sued me for refusing to hand over Colorado’s voter registration data, including highly sensitive personal information like driver’s license numbers and the last four digits of Social Security numbers.

I joined Secretaries of State from across the country to ask the DOJ a simple question: Why is the federal government trying to collect massive amounts of private voter data? Instead of answering, they sued.

At a time when this administration is spreading election misinformation and ICE raids are targeting communities across the country, I will not hand over confidential voter information when Trump’s DOJ has no legal right to it. Protecting Coloradans’ personal information is not optional — it’s my responsibility.

That’s why I recorded this video — to explain what’s happening, what’s at stake, and why I’m standing my ground.

For years, I’ve been on the front lines defending democracy, standing up to extremists, protecting voting rights, and enforcing the law no matter who tries to intimidate me.

I will not be intimidated now.

But standing up to federal overreach takes a strong campaign and the support of people like you. If you’re able, please consider chipping in to support my race for Colorado Attorney General so I can continue protecting our democracy and our rights.

Thank you for standing with me and for believing in this fight.
