Herb Conaway for Congress

Hi there,

What Trump posted to TRUTH Social this past weekend was sick to the core: an artificially generated video depicting President Obama and his wife Michelle as apes.

To post this right at the start of Black History Month – a time to reflect and celebrate black culture and the men and women who fought for our civil rights and freedoms – is particularly egregious.

It reminds me that the current president is nothing more than a white supremacist:

  1. He was sued in the 1970s by the Department of Justice for preventing African Americans from renting out his apartments.
  2. He went after the Central Park Five in the 1980s, victimizing innocent black teenagers and putting them on death row.
  3. He started the baseless conspiracy in 2013 that President Obama was born in Kenya and was therefore unqualified to hold the presidency.
  4. Called Haiti and other majority-black nations “sh*thole” countries.
  5. Has gone after SNAP benefits, voter rights access and affirmative action, all things that disproportionately harm communities of color.
  6. Has targeted Somali Americans for fraud in Minnesota and sent ICE in to racially profile and detain them.

At a time when the administration is trying to erase our history from government websites, museums and historical sites, it’s safe to say where Trump stands on tolerance.

We must always reject this vile, racist rhetoric, no matter what party you are in. To my colleagues in the House: if you haven’t condemned this hate-filled post, I am going to assume you support this racism.

Let’s stop this nonsense once and for all and FLIP the House this November. If you can, please rush a $5 or $10 donation to push back this racism and move forward together.

Hate speech like this has no place in America.
