Just minutes ago, President Trump floated the idea of whether to "delay the election" in November.
The United States Constitution grants to Congress, not the President, the power to determine when Election Day is.
As North Carolina's chief law enforcement officer, Josh Stein will do everything in his power to ensure that the Constitution is upheld and that our elections are defended.
Josh has already fought hard to protect the right to vote and oppose partisan gerrymandering.
As Attorney General, he made a decision not to defend North Carolina at the US Supreme Court over its discriminatory anti-voter law.

The law, which the Republican legislature passed and Josh opposed when he was in the state Senate, impeded citizens’ access to voting and — according to a unanimous panel of federal judges — targeted African Americans with “almost surgical precision.”
Josh also argued in state court that partisan gerrymandering violates the NC Constitution. The court agreed and ordered the legislature to draw new maps.
In his next term, Josh will continue to fight for our voting rights. But to get there, he needs your help.
