Louisiana voters will be able to make housing more affordable in New Orleans on October 12
We scored a major victory for the city of New Orleans with the #FairShare Deal, which has allowed us the begin the process of improving our aging roads and drainage. But #fairshare is about more than just infrastructure - it's about making sure every New Orleanian has a shot at success in our world-class, one-of-a-kind city.

We've got to address the housing affordability crisis. Around 36% of households in New Orleans are housing cost-burdened, which means they pay more than 30% of their income in housing costs. Average rent has already increased 40%, and over 69,000 households can expect their property taxes to go up as assessment values skyrocket.

That's why we're excited to begin our statewide campaign for the New Orleans Affordable Housing Constitutional Amendment #4. With more local control, New Orleans can better take care of its own affairs. Helping longtime residents stay in the city preserves our city's culture and our tax base, so Louisiana's economic engine can continue to thrive. This amendment enjoys the support of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike, largely because it provides more local solutions for local problems. Show your support by endorsing the amendment on our website.

This is a statewide campaign, which means we're going to have to make our case to voters from here to Shreveport and beyond. You can help by donating today, and by taking the pledge to vote for candidates and ballot measures that support our city.

P.S. We have four more ballot initiatives lined up for the November election as well, which we'll keep you updated on. We're counting on your sustained support this election season!
