Friend, it's Andrew Gounardes reaching out to wish you a happy Safer Internet Day !
No, it's not your regular holiday, but with AI and unregulated social media running rampant, it's more important than ever for us to make sure that kids are safe online.
And if you've been paying attention, I've spent my time in Albany doing exactly that through bills like:
1οΈβ£ The New York Child Data Protection Act, which stops sites from collecting and selling our children's data
2οΈβ£ The SAFE Act, which protects children and teens from addictive algorithms on social media
3οΈβ£ The RAISE Act β an AI regulation bill that Gov. Hochul signed into law last December, which puts commonsense guardrails on AI developers and gives us ways to hold them accountable should their products harm our communities.
4οΈβ£ And most recently, The "Stop Online Predators Act," which I'm currently working on and was featured in Gov. Hochul's State of the State address. It does exactly what the name implies, protecting kids from adults who seek to exploit them and holding Big Tech accountable for their products.
Friend, when it comes to fighting for the safety of our kids online, I'm proud to be on the front lines. As a parent, I know firsthand what it's like to worry about our kids' safety online, and that's why I'm so committed to serving our community through common-sense legislation on this issue.
But the work's not done. If we want to make sure our kids are safe online, we have to keep pursuing legislation that regulates what is still an emerging market β and we all know that Washington won't be giving us any help any time soon.
As long as I'm in Albany, I'll keep fighting for common-sense legislation like this one. Can you help me keep fighting by chipping in to my re-election campaign today? Eligible donations can be matched up to 12x by the state. [[link removed]]
