If passed, it will make it harder for marginalized communities to vote.

Friend: Congress is fast-tracking dangerous new bills, modeled after the SAVE Act, that would require citizens to show a passport or birth certificate to register and vote. Much like last year’s SAVE Act, this “show me your papers” requirement would bar millions of Americans from exercising their fundamental freedom to vote.
You can help stop this legislation from passing into law: Urge your members of Congress to reject these bills that attempt to undermine our access to the ballot box. ([link removed])

Right now, we are in the midst of an all-out war on freedom to vote.
🚨 URGENT: Just last month, the FBI raided a Fulton County, Georgia, election center in response to baseless claims of voter fraud back in 2020. To make matters worse, Trump is calling for a federal takeover of elections and insisting that ICE should be present at the polls come the midterm elections. And the Department of Justice is pressuring states to share voter sensitive-data and suing those who refuse.
Now, two recently introduced bills — repackaged versions of the SAVE Act — would prevent millions of Americans from voting by requiring U.S. citizens to show a birth certificate, passport or other citizenship papers in order to register to vote. One would require Americans to show those citizenship papers AGAIN when they vote.
As it stands right now, over 21 million American citizens don’t have either of these documents readily available. More than half of Americans — 146 million people — do not have a passport. And 69 million married women do not have a birth certificate matching their legal name.
Much like the SAVE Act, these bills would undo voter registration measures and burden election officials with unfunded mandates, subjecting them to criminal penalties if they make an honest mistake.

Make no mistake — these bills are a trick designed to limit the freedom to vote for millions of Americans. This anti-democratic agenda would make voting harder for marginalized communities, especially voters of color in the Deep South who are less likely to have passports, more likely to be low-income, and more susceptible to natural disasters which could destroy documents.
The ability to participate in our democracy should not be restricted by bureaucratic red tape that impacts millions of Americans. If passed, this would be the largest rollback of federal voting rights since Reconstruction.
We must all work together to safeguard our fundamental rights and freedoms. Friend, please contact your members of Congress today, and let them know that you WILL NOT stand by this draconian legislation. ([link removed])
