Black bears are dying horrific deaths from cruel hunting practices like baiting, trapping and hounding. Piles of sugary food and rotting meat lure bears out into the open so they’re easier to shoot and kill. Trapped bears suffer immensely before death, breaking their claws, teeth and bones, trying desperately to escape. Hunting hounds injure and kill young bear cubs. And other vulnerable species, who aren’t even the target of the hunters, can fall victim to these practices.

Black bear trophy hunts, killing competitions and other cruel hunting methods need to end. For vulnerable wildlife, time is running out. We must defend and strengthen legislation that protects at-risk species and fight back against policies that may weaken laws that protect wildlife.
