Dear John
Welcome to our monthly roundup of all things Friends of the Earth. I'll start with some potential good news that followed some definite bad news.

Last week the government agreed to use £900 million of taxpayers' money for a gas pipeline in Mozambique. But now Boris Johnson is reported to be 'pretty furious' about the potential damage to the UK's reputation on climate – and has ordered a review of the use of government finance for oil and gas projects abroad.

Whatever's going on behind the scenes, this deal should never have happened. If you agree please sign this petition today:

HOPE ON PLASTIC POLLUTION?
'The Earth faces plastic pollution disaster unless we take drastic action', reads the headline of a recent New Scientist article featuring contributions from our campaigner, Julian Kirby.

It's clear that governments need to do much more, but keep reading for good things that are already happening.

TRUMP AND TRADE – TELL US WHAT YOU THINK
This month we handed in our open letter to the government – urging it not to strike a dirty trade deal with Donald Trump. Thank you again if you're one of the 100,000+ people who signed.

There's still time for you to complete our short survey and help shape the next stage of the campaign. So whether you're concerned about chlorinated chicken, falling environmental standards or the impact on global heating, we'd like to hear your thoughts.
