** Happy Black History Month!
------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Black History Month! With attacks to DEI and attempts to cancel BHM we’re extra excited to uplift the achievements, leadership, resilience, and brilliance of Black Americans, past and present.

Black history isn’t just something we remember. It’s something we protect, defend, and build upon every single day.

Of course, we are starting with the very roots of Black History Month itself. In 1915, Dr. Carter G. Woodson founded the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) to ensure that the stories, contributions, and struggles of Black Americans would never be erased or ignored. At a time when schools and institutions deliberately excluded Black history, ASALH created a movement of education, truth, and empowerment that still shapes our world today.

More than a century later, ASALH reminds us that storytelling is power — and that preserving history is an act of resistance.

** Tracking ICE: Children Should Never be Caged
------------------------------------------------------------

In 2025 alone, ICE booked nearly 3,800 minors into immigrant family detention centers — facilities that function more like prisons than places of care.

Children have been locked away for weeks and months at a time, many without adequate food. Some without consistent access to water or medical care. And in countless cases, families are inhumanely being separated.

This isn’t about safety. It’s about power.

When a government cages children, strips families of dignity, and treats human lives as disposable, it is a moral failure — full stop.

We will not look away. We will not normalize this cruelty. And we will not stop fighting until every child is free, every family is protected, and humanity is restored to our immigration system.

We had BIG news out of Texas last week when Democrat Taylor Rehmet flipped a Republican state Senate seat in a district Trump won by 17 points.

Let that sink in. In a Fort Worth-area district long considered safely red, voters showed that when working people organize, show up, and demand better, change is possible anywhere. Taylor, a labor union leader and veteran, won by more than 14 points in a special election, sending shockwaves through Republican leadership across the country.

Instead of picking a Trump-endorsed Republican candidate, the people of Texas District 9 chose progress over extremism.

“This win goes to everyday working people,” Taylor said — and he’s right.

Progressive candidates can win, even in places the political establishment writes off. Every race matters. Every vote matters. And when we invest in people-powered movements, we build the future we deserve.

Movement for Freedom is proud to launch our newest initiative: the Prioritize Humanity Pledge.

We’ve always been about uplifting leaders who fight for civil rights and human dignity. Now, we’re raising the bar — asking candidates and voters alike to publicly commit to leadership rooted in justice, compassion, and accountability.

Prioritizing humanity isn’t radical. It’s the baseline.

If you believe people should always come before politics, power, and profit, add your name to the pledge and help us build a future where dignity leads every decision.

Together, we can demand better — and elect leaders who deliver it.
