Last night, millions of people watched something powerful unfold.

In just a few minutes on the biggest stage in the country, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio — better known as Bad Bunny — reminded us of something this moment desperately needs: joy, pride, and resistance.

When Benito stood there and said, “God bless America,” then named country after country across our continent, he was making something clear: America is bigger than borders. Bigger than one language. Bigger than the narrow vision Trump and his allies keep trying to force on us.

As a proud Guatemalan-American, that moment hit home.

So many of us were raised knowing we belong to more than one place, that our roots stretch across nations, and that our love for this country doesn’t require erasing where we came from.

At a time when immigrants and our Latinidad are being targeted so much that joy itself feels under attack, last night matters. Because authoritarian movements thrive on isolation and fear. What scares them most is solidarity. People finding each other and saying: you are not alone.

That’s what made last night so powerful. It wasn’t just a performance. It was a declaration that the only thing more powerful than hate is love, community, and our shared humanity.

We are living through hard times. But moments like this remind us why we keep fighting.

Together, we are America. And together, we are stronger than anything they throw at us.
