Since I announced that this term would be my last, many have asked who I believe should succeed me. As the field has taken shape, one candidate has clearly stood out above the rest: Assemblymember Micah Lasher.
I’m confident that Micah Lasher is not just ready for the fight ahead of him in Washington — he’s ready to lead it.
Micah got his start in government working with me, but it’s what he’s done in every job since that makes him my choice for Congress.
From fighting gun violence with Mayor Bloomberg, to holding predatory landlords and Big Oil accountable in the Attorney General’s office, to shaping mental health investments and defending abortion access as Governor Hochul’s Policy Director — this is the type of experience we need to represent our communities.
No other candidate in the race comes close to the depth and breadth of Micah’s record. Not just on one issue, but across the many fronts where Democrats need to be stronger and smarter than ever.
Micah will bring a sense of urgency, creativity, and fearlessness to Congress. And I know his sharp mind and big heart will serve the people of this district incredibly well.
