John, I wanted to take a moment to thank you.

It was with great pride that I accepted the New York Democratic Party’s designation once again to be your governor.

Celebrating the designation with my Lieutenant Governor candidate, Adrienne Adams.

I grew up in a gritty steel town where, in the early years, my family struggled to make ends meet.

But that was also where my parents planted the seeds of activism in me.

My parents taught me right from wrong, to help the downtrodden, to stand up to bullies, and when necessary, fight back, and fight back hard.

Those values are foundational to who I am as a person and as a governor — and they are the basis of my promise that your family and your future are my fight.

No matter what B.S. Trump and his MAGA Republicans throw at us, I will never stop fighting for New York families. But I need you in my corner, John, so will you chip in $15 to help me protect New York from flipping red and continue this fight for years to come? >>

John, I’ll be honest, as a young student, there were two realities I never dreamed possible:

One is that I'd be elected the governor of my home state. But second, that in my lifetime, the pillars of our very democracy — justice, truth, the rule of law — would be under attack.

Not by a foreign power, but by our own president.

It’s clear: Donald Trump's Republican Party is nothing more than a personality cult where truth is subjective, dissent is crushed, and the American people have become the enemy.

For the last year, we've seen what happens when unfettered power is exercised and boundaries are completely ignored.

Times like these demand decisive leadership, an unshakable moral code, and a fierce determination to protect the people of our state and our country.
