Dear John,
As five state legislatures across the country are considering legislation to establish state oversight of broadband, CWA members are leading the charge to ensure reliable high-speed internet, protect good union jobs, and build political power in our communities.
Join me and CWA members from our Broadband Brigade for a virtual town hall on Tuesday, February 17 to discuss the importance of state and federal oversight of broadband and Voice over IP (VoIP), and how CWAers across the country can fight for a reliable and resilient telecommunications infrastructure.
💻 CWA Virtual Town Hall on Broadband Oversight

During the town hall we’ll:
Take an in-depth look at why and how states should oversee broadband and voice over the internet to ensure proper public oversight of billions of dollars in state and federal broadband infrastructure investments.
Provide an overview of CWA’s model broadband oversight legislation being introduced in Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, New York, and Maryland.
Explain CWA’s vision of broadband and VoIP oversight on the federal level and take action to demand the Federal Communications Commission update its oversight rules for the Internet age.
Discuss what you can do to support similar legislation in your state and get politically engaged in 2026 to ensure we have supportive legislatures and a functional U.S. Congress.
CWA members have fought hard, on both the state and federal level, for oversight to protect good, union jobs and provide fast, reliable internet service for all. Join us on February 17th for more information on the importance of broadband oversight legislation and to join other CWA members and retirees in the fight for a reliable and resilient telecommunications infrastructure.
