The first step in building a state government that Iowans can trust is maintaining its authority and independence. Right now, that is at risk as Governor Kim Reynolds and corrupt politicians seek to weaken the Iowa State Auditor to avoid greater scrutiny and oversight.

But Iowans can’t trust politicians who would rather protect themselves than taxpayers. As federal politics leaves families stretched thin by rising costs, we should strengthen our state government so Iowans can trust it to stand with them during tough times. But right now, that’s also on the line.
