Stand with Sgt. Daniel Perry
Dear Friend,
I'm writing to you today with a heavy heart and righteous anger about
an injustice so profound, it should outrage every American who
believes in the rule of law.
[Officer Salvatore Oldrati in uniform] [1]
Officer Salvatore Oldrati - A decorated officer with 10 years of
distinguished service
OFFICER SALVATORE OLDRATI is a third-generation law enforcement
officer who dreamed of protecting his community since he was four
years old. Growing up in inner-city Philadelphia, watching friends and
family fall victim to violent crime, he made a sacred vow: to be the
person who could be called upon to protect the innocent and stop evil.
For ten years, he lived that vow every single day.
HIS RECORD SPEAKS FOR ITSELF:
* Meritorious Service Award
* 2 Life Saving Awards
* 3 Exemplary Performance Awards
* 2019 OFFICER OF THE YEAR
* 2022 OFFICER OF THE YEAR

THEN CAME SEPTEMBER 14, 2021
In the early morning darkness, a 911 call reported burglars—one
armed with a handgun—attempting to break into a home. Officer
Oldrati and Corporal Layton responded. What happened next was captured
on audio: an armed man pointing a gun at officers, refusing repeated,
loud, clear commands to drop his weapon.
Officer Oldrati had seconds—mere seconds—to make an impossible
choice: allow a threat to continue, potentially costing his life and
his fellow officer's life, or act to neutralize it. He did what he was
trained to do. What his oath demanded. What any reasonable person
would have done.
A .45 CALIBER HANDGUN WAS RECOVERED NEXT TO THE BODY.
And then Officer Oldrati immediately began life-saving measures on the
man who had just threatened to kill him.
The New Jersey Attorney General's Office and State Police conducted a
thorough investigation. Officer Oldrati's actions were found to be
LAWFUL and JUSTIFIABLE. He was cleared to return to duty in October
2021.

BUT HERE'S WHERE THE NIGHTMARE TRULY BEGINS
For twenty months, Officer Oldrati served with distinction. He was
promoted. He was named Officer of the Year for the _second time_. He
protected his community. He went home to his wife and children every
night, believing justice had been served and truth had prevailed.
Then, in May 2023, the unthinkable happened.
The same Attorney General's office that cleared him suddenly indicted
him for 2nd Degree Reckless Manslaughter.
Let that sink in. TWENTY MONTHS AFTER BEING CLEARED. Twenty months
after investigators with full access to all evidence determined his
actions were justified. Twenty months after he returned to protecting
the very community now watching him be destroyed.
THE FACTS ARE UNDENIABLE:
* If there had been ANY evidence of recklessness, he would have been
arrested immediately
* If there had been ANY fault, he would NOT have been cleared to
return to duty
* If there had been ANY wrongdoing, he would NOT have been promoted
and honored
* The Attorney General's own procedures allow them to dismiss
indictments lacking probable cause—yet they proceeded anyway
Stand With Him → [1]
Even more disturbing: exculpatory evidence—evidence that would prove
his innocence—was withheld from the grand jury. This isn't justice.
THIS IS A MANIPULATION OF THE LEGAL SYSTEM. This is a betrayal of
every principle our justice system is supposed to uphold.
A FAMILY IN CRISIS
[Officer Oldrati with his children]
A devoted father whose family now faces financial ruin
Officer Oldrati isn't just a badge number. He's a devoted husband. A
loving father. A grandson, son, nephew, brother, cousin, and friend.
He's a man who dedicated his life to protecting strangers, who ran
toward danger when others ran away, who made split-second decisions so
that families could sleep safely at night.
Now his own family faces financial ruin. His trial extends into 2025.
His legal fees are crushing. His reputation—earned through a decade
of heroic service—is being destroyed by prosecutors who already know
he did nothing wrong.
HIS COMMUNITY STANDS FIRMLY BEHIND HIM. But standing isn't enough. He
needs resources to fight this persecution.
This could be YOUR son. YOUR brother. YOUR husband. Any officer who
answers the call could face the same fate—cleared by investigators,
then indicted by politicians. If we don't stand with Officer Oldrati
today, who will stand with the officers protecting OUR families
tomorrow?

WE CANNOT LET THIS STAND
Officer Oldrati followed his training. He followed the law. He
followed his oath. He protected innocent life. And now he's being
punished for it.
If we abandon him, we send a message to every law enforcement officer
in America: _when seconds count and lives hang in the balance, you're
on your own. Save a life today, face prosecution tomorrow._
THAT'S NOT THE AMERICA WE BELIEVE IN.
The National Center for Police Defense is committed to standing with
Officer Oldrati through this nightmare. But we can't do it without
you.
DONATE NOW TO DEFEND OFFICER OLDRATI [1]

matters. It all helps. It all sends a message that we will not abandon
those who protect us.
OFFICER OLDRATI HAS SPENT TEN YEARS PROTECTING PEOPLE HE'S NEVER MET.
Now it's our turn to protect him.
In solidarity and gratitude,
