Republicans in the legislature are now threatening to bring impeachment proceedings against me – because I stood up to ICE.

Last month, I made the call – as Maine’s Secretary of State – to pause the issuance of undercover license plates to federal agencies. Because I will not allow Maine to be complicit in secretive operations that could endanger our neighbors.

Across the nation, we’ve seen ICE’s abuse and lawlessness in broad daylight, with families torn apart and communities living in fear. I refuse to look the other way – and I refuse to let Maine be used as a tool for that kind of harm.

As Secretary of State, I have a duty to ensure state resources aren’t misused or abused. So I acted.

Now, Republicans are trying to punish me by bringing impeachment proceedings against me.
