Shah for Governor of Maine Logo

Today, I’m featured in this year’s “Next 50” from the Washington Post — a list of fifty Americans reshaping how our country thinks, works, and creates. As honored as I am, this recognition really belongs to the people of Maine.

Washington Post Next 50: Nirav Shah — 50 People Shaping our Society in 2026

During the most difficult moments of the pandemic, Mainers showed up for one another, trusted science, and put community first. None of us did it on our own — it was the thousands of dedicated public health workers, clinicians, and volunteers who worked together to keep our state safe.

Just like I couldn’t lead Maine through uncertain times without the help of all these dedicated folks working alongside me, I’m counting on your support to ensure I’m at the top of the only list that matters to me — the top of Mainers’ list to be your next governor.

That’s why I’m asking you to make your first contribution now to help us reach our $25,000 online fundraising goal before midnight to provide the resources we need to hold more town halls, expand our new organizing program, and be able to compete in the next stage of this campaign.

Governing our state requires the same focus, compassion, and clarity that was required to lead Maine through the pandemic: solving hard problems, telling the truth, and keeping people safe.

That’s why I’m running to be Maine’s next governor, but I can’t do it on my own.

It doesn’t matter if I’m on a list sandwiched between members of the Trump family or folks like James Talarico and Zohran Mamdani — the only list that really matters to me is being number one on Mainers’ list for governor. And only you can help me do that.

Together, we showed everyone what it means to show up for one another.

Now, let’s show them again.

Photo of Nirav ShahHi. It’s Nirav Shah. You may remember me from my work as Maine's CDC Director, when I led our state through the uncertainty of the pandemic.

I saw firsthand how we can get through tough times together with empathy, resilience, and vision. And I’ll bring those same values with me to Augusta to tackle the big problems. But to do that, I’m relying on grassroots supporters like you to power our campaign so we can compete in this race.

The challenges our state faces require a leader with a unique set of skills and a clear vision for how Mainers can build a better life.

You’ve trusted me to deliver amid uncertainty before, and now I’m asking for your trust again.
