Northern Virginia is at a crossroads for conservation. As our region continues to grow and change, the decisions we make today about how we protect birds and urban nature will shape the landscape for generations to come.

That's why we're hosting the 2026 Northern Virginia Bird Alliance Symposium: Protecting Birds & Urban Nature in Northern Virginia on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. ([link removed])

Why This Matters Now

Our 2024 Symposium proved something powerful: when local conservation leaders, government partners, and community advocates come together in the same room, real solutions emerge. We saw new collaborations form, heard innovative approaches to shared challenges, and built momentum for regional action that's already making a difference for birds and wildlife across Northern Virginia.

This year, we're building on that foundation. With conservation leaders from across the region, we'll dive deeper into the pressing questions facing our communities: How do we protect habitat in rapidly developing areas? Where are the untapped opportunities for partnership? What's working, and what can we learn from each other?

Turn Ideas Into Action: Community Foundation for Northern Virginia Environmental Fund

The best part? The conversations and collaborations that begin at the Symposium don't have to end there. The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia's Environmental Fund provides grants to support grassroots conservation projects across our region—exactly the kind of local action we'll be discussing on February 25.
