We need our representatives in Washington to protect our democracy and work to get money out of politics.

Donald Norcross knows that. He supports campaign finance reform and overturning the disastrous Citizens United decision.

Donald often cites the gun lobby as an example of the problem. In 2008, before Citizens United, the National Rifle Association (NRA) spent $10 million a year, but in 2016 that number ballooned to $54 million, with more than $30 million spent on Donald Trump's campaign alone. So when you ask 'why won't Republicans act on gun safety?' – you just need to follow the $$.

H.R. 1, which Donald Norcross voted for back in February, would help limit the influence of money-wielding groups. But Mitch McConnell refuses to bring this sensible bill to the Senate Floor. McConnell wants to continue to allow the NRA and other dark money groups and countries to influence our elections.

Team, my colleagues and I want to make voting easier, not harder. We know that democracy belongs to the people, not just to dark money groups and special interests. So, why won't Mitch McConnell get money out of politics?

The answer is straight forward: it benefits him, Trump and Republicans to keep the status quo just as it is, suppressing the vote and leaving our elections open to foreign interference.
