John, by now, you know the road to defeating Citizens United starts in Montana.

First, we developed The Montana Plan based on one idea: since current Supreme Court precedent says states can stop giving their corporations any power at any time, that includes the power to spend money on politics. That means that we can make Citizens United irrelevant by passing a ballot initiative, amending the state constitution, or passing legislation through the legislative process.

Then, we started organizing. Since submitting our ballot initiative paperwork to the state, we’ve been holding in-community & online events, mobilizing volunteers so we can knock doors, and detailing our plan to anyone who would listen. And our efforts have been paying off, because…

Now, we’re working with other states on how they can start this process themselves! The goal is to apply our blueprint across all 50 states, so we, as a country, can finally defeat Citizens United.
