Well, at this point, I’m almost losing track of all the reasons Pete Hegseth is unfit to serve.
In January, NPR obtained a memo from Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon laying out plans to review the “effectiveness” of allowing women to serve in ground combat roles.
Let’s be honest about what this is: sexist BS.
First, it was attacking transgender service members, kicking them out of the military, and banning their enlistment. Then it was the quiet purge of senior military leaders who didn’t fit Hegseth’s narrow ideological mold: white, Christian, cisgender men. And now, it’s calling into question the thousands of women who have served honorably, met the standards, and proven themselves in combat — all to satisfy Pete Hegseth’s right-wing culture war agenda.
Hegseth has been saying the quiet part out loud for years . In 2024, he went on a podcast and said women shouldn’t serve in combat roles, claiming without a shred of evidence that it makes the military “less effective” and “less lethal.”
That claim is offensive. And even more importantly, it’s false!
An Army study conducted between 2018 and 2023 found that women performed well in ground combat units — and in some cases outperformed their male counterparts. Military experts have been clear: this so-called review is a solution in search of a problem.
The Pentagon claims this is about maintaining standards, and that women in combat somehow “compromise” our national security. But rigorous training standards already exist, and these women have met or exceeded them.
Questioning their service doesn’t raise standards. It undermines morale, pushes qualified leaders out, and weakens our military readiness when it matters most.
But none of this is surprising when it comes to Pete Hegseth. We’re talking about the same person who mishandled sensitive operational details on Signal and endangered U.S. troops. Who tried to use taxpayer dollars for personal vanity projects like his very own makeup studio inside the Pentagon. Who has promoted extremist views, like criminalizing homosexuality and taking away women’s right to vote.
Pete Hegseth routinely puts his deeply troubling ideology and inflated ego ahead of troop safety and national security.
He is a national embarrassment and completely unfit to lead the Department of Defense. I’m demanding that he resign — if you agree, add your name to my petition now. [[link removed]]
HEGSETH MUST RESIGN [[link removed]]
Time and again we’ve seen how diversity makes us stronger, not weaker. The same is true of our military. Having service members who are trans, people of color, and women makes us stronger, more capable, and better prepared to face real threats. Our military members deserve leadership that respects their service, follows the facts, and keeps them safe — not culture wars from the Pentagon.
Thank you for speaking out with me — for the women who courageously serve, for our military, and for our national security.
