Apply now: Help deliver home repair grants to rural, low-income households
The Washington State Department of Commerce is now accepting applications from qualified organizations to administer the Low-Income Home Rehabilitation Grant Program (HRGP) in rural areas of Washington state.
Applications are due March 11, 2026, at 5 p.m.
About the program
The Low-Income Home Rehabilitation Grant Program helps low-income homeowners make needed repairs that improve health, safety, and long-term durability.
Funding supports repair and improvement work in single-family homes that are owned and permanently occupied by the homeowner.
Priority must be given to homeowners who are:
- Seniors
- People with disabilities
- Families with children age 5 or younger
- Veterans
Available funding
Commerce has $2,954,951 available and expects to make multiple awards.
- Maximum award per applicant: $325,000
Who can apply
Eligible applicants include:
- Approved Commerce grantees
- Tribal nations
- Cities and towns
- Public service companies
- Public utility districts
- Mutual or cooperative organizations
- Minimum qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be licensed to do business in Washington state, or commit to obtaining licensure within 30 days of selection (not required for tribal applicants)
- Have at least two years of experience in the past five years with:
- Home renovation programs (such as housing rehabilitation or weatherization), and
- Low-income home repair services
- Be able to provide services in rural, non-entitlement areas of Washington state

Questions and pre-application conferences
Commerce will host optional virtual pre-application conferences via Zoom. Questions are only accepted during these meetings and the official Q&A period.
Responses will be posted publicly by February 25, 2026. Commerce will not respond to individual email questions.
