Hi John,
Did you miss our recent webinar, “The Fight for Abortion Rights in the States: Anti-Abortion State Policies and Strategies to Expect in 2026”? No problem! You can still catch up on the current landscape of anti-abortion state legislation and learn how to fight back in your local communities. In 2026, state laws continue to target abortion access, especially telehealth abortion care – but we cannot back down. Organizers and activists are gearing up to hold ballot initiatives, expand community networks, and develop protective policies to keep abortion accessible at a local level. Learn from our panelists about the best ways to plug in to state work and protect abortion in our communities.

Protecting Abortion Pills Locally and Nationally
With baseless anti-abortion legislation developing left and right, the Trump Administration is hopping on the junk-science wagon to attempt to ban abortion pills outright. Calls for the FDA to review the safety of mifepristone, one of two pills used during a medication abortion, threaten access nationwide. As we emerge from our winter doldrums, it’s time to plug in and stand up to Trump. Protecting abortion pills in our community is not only essential, but also our responsibility. This month, say NO to junk science and sign on to our campaign to tell the Trump Administration to keep their hands off mifepristone. Now is the time to mobilize for abortion access by using your voice to protect mifepristone.

Self-Care
Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.
Here are our self-care tips for February:
1. Indulge your childhood whimsy. Adult life can be exhausting and monotonous from time to time, so why not let yourself experience some levity by doing things that previously brought you joy? Buy a sticker sheet, do some messy finger-painting, or make yourself a pudding dirt cup! Personally, I’ve been getting back into my lifelong love of Sanrio by playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure. – Jasmine, Media Research Manager
2. Give yourself credit! It’s easy for me to focus on what I didn’t check off my to-do list, so I’ve started to keep a weekly list of things I’m proud of myself for. They don’t have to be big things; for example, I recently wrote, “Met friends out when it was cold and dark and I didn’t want to go. Ended up having a great time!” We make so many decisions in one day that it's easy to overlook all the wins. I truly think everyone is doing more than they give themselves credit for. - Annie, Research Manager
3. Put the screens away. If you’re like me, you’re in the midst of the cold and dark winter doldrums. It’s easy to spend hours doomscrolling when it’s too icy to go outside…but try reducing your screen time gradually. This month, I tasked myself with putting my phone away at least an hour before I sleep and instead picking up a book. As a result, I’ve both reduced my screen time AND drastically improved my sleep. If you’re not a reader, maybe take up a craft or hobby instead, and you’ll be shocked how much more productive you’ll feel on a day-to-day basis. – Stephanie, DC Organizer
