Hi, John! 👋
I’m Ron Stewart, State Representative for House District 73 and Vice Chair of the Oklahoma Democratic Party. I was born and raised in Tulsa, I’m a longtime public servant, and when I’m not at the Capitol, I serve my community as a lieutenant and paramedic with the Tulsa Fire Department. Everything I do, legislatively and personally, is rooted in service, accountability, and making sure everyday Oklahomans are seen, heard, and supported.
Welcome back to Monday Mission, our weekly check-in to stay connected, stay informed, and keep moving forward together.
First, I wanted to walk you through some of the important bills run by House Democrats that caught my eye. Then update you on the work we're doing outside the Capitol and invite you to join us.
📋What Democrats Are Working On
House Democrats know the cost of everyday life keeps climbing, groceries, rent, health care, insurance, utilities, child care, and working families are feeling it every month. Many Oklahomans are working more than one job and still struggling to cover the basics.
That’s why Democrats are focused on solutions that put more stability back into people’s pockets.
HB2230 would raise Oklahoma’s minimum wage to at least $15 an hour, or match the federal minimum wage, so full-time work actually supports a family.
HB3392 works to protect everyday ratepayers by making sure large industrial users don’t drive up electric costs for households that don’t benefit from those projects.
HB4286 would stop insurance companies from using credit scores to set insurance rates, preventing families from being punished for their financial history instead of actual risk. HB3384 adds protection by capping annual homeowner insurance premium increases so families aren’t hit with sudden cost spikes.
HB3675 ensures a real person, not an algorithm, has the final say when health insurance claims are flagged for denial, adding accountability where it’s badly needed.
After eliminating the state grocery tax, Democrats are continuing the fight against unfair pricing with HB3959 , which would stop companies from charging different people different prices for the same goods using surveillance and algorithmic pricing.
And to make sure public dollars truly serve the public , HB3684 redirects funds from the Parental Choice Tax Credit back into Oklahoma’s public schools, supporting students, teachers, and classrooms statewide.
There is so much more, but too much for this one email.

📞Phone Bank to Flip!!
Tuesday we have the chance to add another Democratic Representative to help push for these common sense solutions to make our state more affordable.
OKDEMS Team along with several members of the House Democratic Caucus spent the weekend knocking doors for Luke Kruse in HD 35 [[link removed]] as part of our Get Out the Vote blitz!
The responses at the doors were incredible. Luke is a known and loved football coach, educator, and community member who has his neighbors' trust. They're excited for a change in their district.

Luke is exactly the type of Representative we need joining us at the State Capitol. While Republicans think they have this in the bag, w e know better. Republican turnout has been low and there are plenty of Democrats in the district to win outright.
If we turn out local Dems, Luke wins! There are two phone banking opportunities, this evening and tomorrow morning, to help ensure all of Luke's supporters make it to the polls and flip this seat blue! [[link removed]]

📈Democratic Registrations Are Rising
Last Monday, while the Governor was busy delivering his last State of the State, the State Election Board released new registration numbers. And something is changing... Democratic registrations are trending up.
In January there were nearly 1,000 new Democrats registered across the State. This represents the single biggest monthly addition to our registration in over a year!
And there's one point we're especially proud of -- nearly 700 of those registrations occurred in our targeted districts where we have active registration teams!
You can see we're even outpacing Republicans in Targeted Districts!

Huge thanks to the Comanche, Oklahoma, and Tulsa County Dems as well as to Edmond Democratic Women for helping us register new Dems at the doors in swing seats!
This Week’s Monday Mission
Stay engaged.
Pay attention early.
Share the facts.
The work you see above is more than legislation—it’s organizing through action. When we show up with real solutions, we engage Oklahomans who are tired of being overlooked. When we stay transparent and connected, we connect communities across this state. And when we turn shared values into policy, we organize people to elect Democrats at every level of government.
That’s the mission. That’s the work. And together, that’s how we win.
Onward Together,
Ron Stewart
