Hey John, it's Carolyn.

We’re coming up on our July end-of-month fundraising deadline this Friday as well as the primary election one week from today on Tuesday, August 4th . Time is flying by in this race, and I wanted to take a moment to explain why I decided to run for Congress in the first place back in 2018, why I’m running again now, and how your support makes a difference.

Time and time again, Republicans like my opponent Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler have put partisan agendas and corporate special interests before the people they were elected to serve. They've attacked our health care by trying to overturn the Affordable Care Act without a viable solution, threatening to leave tens of millions of people without coverage and those with pre-existing conditions without protections. And they've prioritized passing massive tax breaks for corporations and the wealthy elite while leaving working and middle class families in the dust.

It became clear to me that folks in Southwest Washington don’t have a leader fighting for them in Washington, DC.

I decided to put in the hard work and dedicate my time to holding dozens of events around the district, meeting with as many Southwest Washingtonians as I possibly could, listening to their needs, and becoming that leader.

Despite the political pundits’ predictions, we came just a few points away from defeating the odds and winning in 2018 – and that’s because of the outpouring of support from folks like you.

I know that with enough resources, we can win this time around and Flip the 3rd in November, but I’m relying on grassroots support from people like you, not dark money like my opponent has behind her.
